The Valentine’s of Earls Colne
Hamish’s parents retired to Earls Colne in 1903/04 to a new house built for them all in York Road. The house was called Luton Lodge, Now the Con Club!
Hamish was very keen on tennis. The house had its own tennis court but unfortunately tennis got Hamish into trouble!!
In 1906 he patented ‘An improved spring wheel for automobiles, cabs, bath-chairs, invalid chairs, velocipedes and other wheeled vehicles’.
In 1909 he patented ‘An improved Wind Mill’.
But, the 1900’s was the AGE OF AVIATION!
Come and learn more about Hamish Valentine, a pioneer of aviation of that time, with his interest in wind motors and vertical aviation!
